1.2 Internet research

For me, interesting thing in the supernatural world is mythology. Especially Greek myths. One of my favorites is the myth about Prometheus. To find out more about the story I started my research at Google where I found a great link. It’s said that this website is a good guide for teachers and students. It’s called http://www.studyguide.org/prometheus_myth.htm. The website provides the whole text of the myth written in simple language so you won’t be confused by any writing style from past. To help myself I also used http://www.greekmythology.com/Myths/The_Myths/Creation_of_Man_by_Prometheus/creation_of_man_by_prometheus.html .  There we can read the story again just to make sure the events are all the same.

Prometheus was one of the Titans, son of Iapetus and the Nymph Asia. He had three brothers: Atlas, Menoetius and Epimetheus.  Their father was fighting with the Gods. Atlas and Menoetius decided to help him.  Prometheus and his twin were for the other side- they helped the Zeus. During the war Atlas and other brother died.  

Epimethus with the Prometheus created from clay the figures and Athena gave them breath to live. Prometheus shared with Man his huge knowledge. However, the figures were still weak and they didn’t know how to deal with nature. Prometheus knew that his people needed to have a fire. However, Zeus didn’t like that idea because he didn’t want them to have a power.  Prometheus loved his “children” so much to he sacrificed his good relation with the biggest God of Olymph.  He stole fire from the Gods and gave it to Man.  When Zeus found out about this behavior, he was very upset. Zeus stated that humans needed to sacrifice a portion of all animals they had to the Gods.  Father of Man defended his offspring and prepared a surprise for Zeus. He asked him to pick up one of the two piles of meat. This was a trick because one pile was of bones covered by rich fat and the other one was of meat covered by thin skin. Zeus of course picked up the first one with the rich fat and was surprised when he saw the bones. He got really pissed off. He planned revenge.  He created the first female named Pandora. She was a very beautiful woman. However it was a trick because she was holding the box with the most horrible things inside. Zeus hoped that Prometheus would fall in love with her and open the box. However, like was said before, Titan was a very clever guy so he refused a gift from the God.  Zeus was furious for all Prometheus’s tricks and now for the refusing the “gift” so he chained Prometheus to the rock in the Caucasus Mountains. He couldn’t in any way escape because the chain was unbreakable.  Every day a great eagle came eat Prometheus’s liver. It was a never-ending punishment because at night the liver was growing back and next day the big bird was eating it again. This schema was repeated day after day for a very long time.

       Hey, my name is Paulina. I' m originaly from Poland. I just started collage however  I'm pretty new in United States. I hope I will be fine with my imperfect English. Except school I also work part time. Fortunately I still have time for hobby. I'm really interested in psychology. I read many articles and books about this subject. Important for me is also music.
